🇦🇷✈️ How to ask for dulce de leche, empanadas or milanesas in English

If you travel abroad and you want to eat Argentine food or explain it, here are some easy ways to do it 👇

🥄 Dulce de leche
There is no exact word in English, but you can say:
👉 “It’s a sweet milk spread, like caramel, but thicker. It’s very popular in Argentina.”
You can also ask:
👉 “Do you have anything with dulce de leche?”
or
👉 “Is there a caramel spread like dulce de leche?”

🥟 Empanadas
Some people know the word empanadas, but you can explain:
👉 “They are small pastries filled with meat, cheese or vegetables. We eat them a lot in Argentina.”
To order, you can say:
👉 “Do you have empanadas?”
or
👉 “I would like some empanadas, please.”

🍽️ Milanesas
There is a similar food in English called breaded meat or breaded cutlet, but you can say:
👉 “A milanesa is a thin slice of meat, with bread crumbs, and then fried or baked. Like a schnitzel.”
To ask for it:
👉 “Do you have something like a milanesa?”
or
👉 “I’d like a breaded beef or chicken, like an Argentine milanesa.”
